Where Can I Serve?

Jesus told us, his disciples, to make disciples of all nations. One of the most important values of Calvary Free Will Baptist Church is our mission to the world. It begins in our own community, and spreads overseas to every nation. Calvary members are involved in a variety of ministries from things as simple as washing the church vehicles, to preparing the church bulletins. If you are interested in helping out in any way at Calvary, shoot Pastor Aaron an email or schedule an appointment to meet with him.

Mission Outreach

Calvary is thrilled to be part of the spread of God’s kingdom around the world. We are active in sending missionaries and supporting these missionaries with our money and with our prayers. We encourage all of our people to respond to God’s call for laborers, whether it means that they move to a foreign country or live and minister in our own community. Our church has parternered with the following ministries:

Matt and Cristina Price (France)

Nathan and Linda Snow (Japan)

Heath and Joni (Creative Access missionaries)

Ron and Janice Wallace (Fairbanks, AK)

Bill and Loraine Crank (Cartersville, GA)

Donnie and Susan Burke (Castle Rock, CO)

Music & Drama

God-honoring worship is something we strive for. Many church members get involved in our music and drama ministry. Some play their instruments. Some are vocalists. Others are involved in the choir. Still others get involved in drama. These volunteers are an important part of the ministry of Calvary, using their talents and gifts to glorify God.

Ushers

The usher team at Calvary fills an important role. They are involved in directing attendees to their seats, ensuring the safety of the building during services, guiding traffic, helping visitors, answering questions, providing direction, unlocking doors, locking doors, and generally ensuring that the service can proceed problem-free. The usher team is a servant-hearted group of men and women whose ministry is integral to church life.

Media & Technology

Using media to spread the gospel is a privilege of Calvary Church. In an age of widespread technology, we have a responsibility to use these tools as best as possible for kingdom purposes. All of our weekly sermons are uploaded to our website in audio format (and we are working to soon add video). We also maintain an active Facebook for additional church communication.

Prayer Warriors

Prayer cannot be overestimated. Prayer moves the hand of God. Grace Community Church is a body of believers dependent upon prayer, and committed to God’s sovereignty. Each Sunday, during the morning service, a team of volunteers is praying for the ministry of the Word. Throughout the week, volunteers to our Prayer Warriors team, pray for their pastor, a list of church members, any special requests, and missionary prayer needs. Each Wednesday, the church comes together for a special time of prayer and Bible study.

Children’s Church

In order to give our children the best Bible teaching possible, Calvary holds a children’s church service in conjunction with the main service for children ages 5-12. This special time gives kids more opportunity for interaction and learning in a context and manner that may be better suited to their age and learning styles. Our friendly children’s church volunteers have an endless stream of creativity–ranging from puppet shows, to games, to object lessons.

Camp Counselors

Each summer, Calvary Free Will Baptist Church hosts a youth camp with our sister churches in the area. The week-long event involves games, a lot of preaching, great food, good worship, and the intentional influence of camp counselors. The camp counselors are selected, screened, and trained for this important camp ministry. They find that their ministry is personally rewarding, and both campers and counselors grow in the process.

Online Giving

Giving is an important part of a relationship with Christ. We are asked to give of our time, our talents, and our treasures.

The Bible describes two types of giving:  Tithes and Offerings.

Deuteronomy 14:22-23  “You shall surely tithe all the produce from what you sow, which comes out of the field every year. You shall eat in the presence of the Lord your God, at the place where He chooses to establish His name, the tithe of your grain, your new wine, your oil, and the firstborn of your herd and your flock, so that you may learn to fear the Lord your God always.”

Malachi 3:10  “Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, so that there may be food in My house, and test Me now in this, says the Lord of hosts, if I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you a blessing until it overflows.”

Why Should I Tithe?

1.  Because it demonstrates that God is Lord of my life.

2. Because tithing reminds me that everything was given by God.

3. Because God expects me to use my income to do good.

4. Because tithing is an act of trusting God to provide for my needs.

2 Corinthians 9:10-11  “Now He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness.”

5. Because the kingdom of God is strengthened by my giving.

6. Because tithing reveals what is most important to me.

Matthew 6:19-21  “for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”

7. Because giving reflects the character of God.

What are offerings? An offering is anything we give after we have given the tithe.

In order to make it more convenient to give, Calvary now offers an online giving option through PayPal. If you do not have an account, you will be asked to set one up. Don’t worry, it’s FREE and EASY!

FAQ

We are so glad that you have visited us here at our virtual home.  You might have some more questions and we would love to answer them.  If your question is not answered below, email us and we will promptly reply.

1.  What should I wear?

There is no dress code at Calvary.  There are some who wear suits and ties or dresses.  There are others that come in jeans.  Please just come and you will fit right in.

2.  What is the offering that you take up?

Part of our worship of God is giving back to the Lord a portion that He has given to us. This is for our church members and we do not expect you as a visitor to participate, although you are certainly welcome to do so.  Our regular offerings go to help support the operation of the church.

3.  Are you a part of a denomination?

Calvary Free Will Baptist Church is a proud, voluntary member of the National Association of Free Will Baptists.  We welcome all people to come and worship with us.  We serve a great God who is above denominational labels.  For more information about what Free Wil Baptists believe, please check out our “What We Believe” page.

4.  What will I find when I visit?

You will find a loving church that cares about you and will welcome you with open arms.  We are church that is not so big that you get lost in the shuffle.  Rest assured we will not embarass you or point you out.  When you come, you will probably be given a packet with information about the church.  In this welcome pack there is an information card that we would love for you to fill out so that we might have a record of your visit.  Just for visiting with us we have a free gift that we would like to give you and will use the information from the card to get it to you.

When you arrive at the church, there are 3 special guest parking spaces right up front for our first time guests. We encourage you to park here. There are directional signs to point you where to go next.

5.  What about my children?

Children are an important part of Calvary!  During our services we do offer special activities geared for children in our childrens ministry center.  However your children are more than welcome to stay with you in service if you are more comfortable with that.  Calvary also offers a nursery service on Sundays.

6.  What translation of the Bible does your church use?

There are a lot of good Bible translations available today.  Our folks use many of them.  Our pastor preaches from the New King James Version (NKJV) in services.  We believe that the best translation of the Bible is the one that you will read.
