Core Values and HABITS
Core Values
Core values are non-negotiables for Calvary. These four things we hold dear and we base all of our ministries upon holding these commitments.
Family Centered. Family is important here at Calvary. Most of our activities are family oriented. We want families to pray, worship, and play together so that they will stay together. We will seek to be the Family of God to each other and those the Lord gives us opportunity to serve.
Evangelism Centered. We believe the number one priority of any church should be telling people about Jesus. We seek to find ways to reach out into our community with the love of Christ and introduce Jesus Christ to those who have never met Him. We also seek to be a healing station for those that have known Christ but because of different situations have left Church and their relationship with Christ.
Bible Centered. We believe that the Bible is God's Word and it has the power to transform lives. This is because we have experienced it for ourselves and are continuing to undergo a major transformation into Christ's family. Our church unapologetically preaches the Word of God. Our pastor does not sugar coat the Scriptures. We strive as best we can to live up to the Bible and learn its precepts.
Love Centered. Jesus modeled for us the importance of love. It was His love that drove Him from the comforts of Heaven to come the Earth as a man to die for the sins of the world, that whosoever would call upon Him would be saved and given new life. God is not a respecter of persons -- in other words, He offers salvation to absolutely anyone who will ask for it. As best we can our church tries to follow that same model. We practice love for all people and are eager to have the opportunity to share that love with others.
You will remember that as Christians Jesus calls us to be followers. That is what "disciple" means, to follow someone or something. As we follow Christ, we must look to him as our example and develop some good, healthy spiritual habits.
H -- Have time with God. It is important that we spend time everyday with the Lord in prayer. Prayer is simply talking with God.
A -- Accountability. We all need another person who will hold us accountable to follow the example of Christ, and who will lovingly pull us back on track when we get off the way.
B -- Bible Study and memorization. Regular Bible study and memorization is a key to effective discipleship. God has revealed His Word to us and if we want to know what He has for us, we need to read the instructions. If you need help with a regular time of Bible reading let me know and I will give you some suggestions.
I -- Involvement in Christ's body, the church. Take part in the church. Don't be a bench warmer, be a soldier for the Lord!
T -- Tithing Commitment. Give to your church. Jesus knew that where a person's wallet was, their heart was there as well.
S -- Serve Others. God has blessed you so that you can in turn bless others. Help others in need. Offer that encouraging word to someone who needs a lift.
The Lord help us as we develop good HABITS!
